The Region

The winetown Poysdorf – surrounded by vineyards - is situated about 60 kilometers north-east of Austria’s capital Vienna in the heart of the winequarter, where viticulture has been pursued since the 14th century.

The main grape-variety of our region is Gruener Veltliner, which is flourishing excellently on clay and loess soils.

Our Estate

The knowledge of turning grapes into wine has been passed on in our family from generation to generation and goes back to the 17th century.

The great-grandfather built the first stone-press in town, the grandfather was the first who planted grafted vine in the region. Three centuries of wine-making are reflected in the high quality and fine harmony of our wines.

On a wine-growing-area of over 17 hectare we have planted the grape varieties Rivaner, Gruener Veltliner, Welschriesling, Weissburgunder, Rheinriesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Blauer Portugieser, Blauburger and Zweigelt. The grapes are always being processed gently, the wines maturing in stainless steel tanks as well as in tradtional oak barrels. Our wines are natural, dry, top quality wines which achieved quite some national as well as international awards during the last years.

You are most welcome to taste our wines in our estate after appointment by telephone.

Our winery

When our original cellar broke down at the end of the second world war, we had to look for a substitute which we found in an old beer-brewery in Poysdorf from renaissance period which was closed down around 1900.

Remarkable is also our idyllic inner-court, which is a favourite place in summer for wine-tastings and other special events.
